Bryn Atkinson's favourite tyre!

The Maxxis Highroller 2 builds on the success of the original Highroller as the go-to tyre for aggressive riding on technical loose terrain.

Featuring slotted knobs and an open and aggressive tread design for enhanced traction on loose soils and excellent mud clearing ability. The centre and shoulder knobs have been modified to improve braking performance and traction on hard surfaces and the square profile provides a solid, consistent feel during cornering.

Bryn Atkinson froths on this tyre and reckons it has the best side knobs in the business. If you've seen that guy ride you'll be aware that he knows a thing or two about how to ride a bike around a corner!

Highroller 2's are one of the most popular tyres Maxxis make because they suit so many bikes. On a Trail bike they work great as a front tyre teamed up with something like the Maxxis Ardent on the back.

They are most popular on an Enduro bike either both front and rear, or as a front tyre teamed up with either a Maxxis Aggressor, Maxxis Minion Semi Slick or Maxxis Minion DHR2 on the rear. The Highroller 2 is a great choice as a downhill tyre too - this is what it was originally designed for!

The Highroller 2 is a huge favourite amongst the MTB Direct team.

2.5" not recommended on rims narrower than 27mm.

2.6" not recommended on rims narrower than 30mm.

2.8"and 3.0" not recommended on rims narrower than 35mm.

Features:

  • Very aggressive tread pattern
  • Perfect for loose or soft conditions
  • Sizes to suit anything from a trail bike to a downhill bike
  • Excels in technical terrain
Compromises:

If you mainly ride fast, hardpack trails, the Minion DHF or DHR 2 will be better options as they roll a bit faster, and the big block knobs are more stable at speed.

Please note: Wire bead tyres are sent rolled up to minimise shipping costs. The wires in the beads shouldn't get bent during this process, however, if they arrive with a bend, just bend them back until they are straight. It won't affect the performance of the tyre at all.
