1. What stem clamp diameter do you need?
Handlebar clamp diameter must match your stem exactly. The use of shims to fit different diameters are not recommended.
Common widths: 400-460mm for gravel drop bars, 700-820mm for MTB bars. Drop bars are measured centre-to-centre at the drops, MTB bars from the ends.
Higher rise on MTB bars increases leverage and control for technical terrain but reduces climbing efficiency. Deeper drop on gravel bars (>120mm) improves aerodynamics but requires more flexibility and core strength. Common: 0-35mm rise for MTB, 100-130mm drop for gravel.
