Description

Spank has taken alloy handlebar tech to the next level with Vibrocore to create a race-tuned and award-winning handlebar design. It all starts with a 6-series alloy that is shaped to perfection with their Dual XGT double butting process. Essentially, this makes the bars thicker for maximum strength where it's needed and reduces the thickness in other areas to save on weight. The bars are then injected with Spank's fancy Vibrocore foam which uses the power of science to greatly reduce the harmful vibrations felt through the bar while also increasing overall bar stiffness and fatigue life.

These are pretty wide bars at 800mm wide but they have handy trim marks to enable you to trim them down to a minimum 740mm width or anything else in-between

Who's this item for: DH, Enduro, and Gravity riders looking to reduce the pain and discomfort that harsh vibrations through the bars can cause.

Material: Dual butted Extreme Gradual Taper (XGT) MGR Super 6 Alloy alloy injected with Vibrocore to take the buzz out of the bars. Shot peen anodised finish for durability.

Width: 800mm of tree clipping width. Can trim up to 30mm off each end to bring them down to 740mm if you'd prefer.

Sweep: 4° Up, 8° Back.

Rise: Available in 30mm or 50mm rise

Markings: Centre alignment, cut marks to trim up to 30mm off each end.

Clamping diameter/bore: 31.8mm

Weight:
  • Approx 350 grams (30mm rise)
  • Approx 360 grams (50mm rise)
Pros: Vibrocore injection to reduce arm pump and hand numbness.

Cons: Even though 800mm isn't crazy wide by modern standards, most people will still probably need to trim them down a bit.

    Spank Spike 800 Vibrocore 800 50mm rise

    Good bar. High rise bars are hard to come by. These bars aren’t as compliant as the one up bars they replaced but more durable (I wrote the one up bars off in a crash). I’d like to compare them to a normal alloy bar.

    Great on a Marin SQ3

    The added height over the stock bar makes the ride much more comfortable. Haven’t done enough riding on the new bar to test the vibrocore aspect, but so far great bar.

    Spank Bars

    Was looking for some new bars after riding straight for a couple of years. Saw these and thought may help with my posture. So comfortable and really feel the difference in quality over my old one’s👌

    Stoked with 5 STAR Spank 👍

    As a senior mountain bike rider, yes senior haha!! I really dig riding my new Merida Big trail 400 but I really wanted a set of riser bars that would make the trecking easier especially on the neck.

    I did my research so I checked out all the handlebars and settled on the Spank Spike 800mm witdh by 75mm rise.

    I asked MTB direct if the new bars would come packaged for protection. And they replied they will do everything in their power to ensure the bars arrived in pristine condition and that they did!! it was a box within a big box haha!!

    Since fitting my new bars there is no way I could go back to the original set! these new Spank Spikes are fantastic nice and wide plenty of leverage and the rise is absolutely awesome!! They have transformed the Ride and feel of my bike...I LOVE em!!!. The cool graphics are the cherry on top and the alignment markings are a great idea!!. Also the folks @ MTB direct are terrific and personable to deal with, with no problem too much 
