Description

The "King of Lubes" has five chain lubes:

  • Extreme is for mountain bikes: mountain bikes need something that can take lots of dust, and/or muddy slop being kicked up on the chain from the front wheel.
  • Absolute Dry is for road bikes: road bikes generally tend to pick up more dirt and dust from static discharge, so a thicker, dryer membrane is needed.
  • Gold is for both mountain and road bikes. A universal dry lube suitable for dry dust and protection from slightly wet conditions.
  • Holy Cow is a very settled wet lube that is as clean or cleaner than most dry lubes. Dirt and grit can be quickly wiped from the chain unlike a dry lube.
  • Electrify is a lube specifically designed with e-bikes in mind. Keeps additional friction down to a minimum that e-bikes cause on components and chains.

Rock "N" Roll chain lubes go deep down into the chain, and trap any dirt. Then with the energy of the chain freewheeling backwards, and the formulation trapping the dirt and grit, floating it to the surface so you can wipe it all off. Leaving a new and clean application of lube inside the chain where it's needed. The lube down inside the chain creates a protective membrane to seal out dirt and moisture from the moving parts of the chain. As well as holding in place the lube, for longer chain life, and super smooth shifting and pedalling.

Bicycles being on rubber tyres are not grounded, making the bicycle a static electricity machine. As the bicycle rolls along it is constantly throwing off negative charged electrons. Whereas the dirt along the ground is positive charged, and comes up to the bike to replace the discharge. The dirt is going to stick to whatever is sticky on the bike. Of course the chain is the number one spot. Road bikes generally tend to pick up more dirt from the discharge, so a thicker, dryer membrane is needed - Absolute Dry lube. On the other hand the mountain bike needs something that can take lots of dust, and/or muddy slop being kicked up on the chain from the front wheel with water crossings too - Extreme lube. The Gold lube works on all bicycles, staying cleaner, and taking the smooth and quietness of pedalling and shifting to a higher level. The Gold costs more but is in a class all by itself.

How to apply

Put the chain on the big ring in the front, and on the small cog on the rear. Apply the lube on the chain, over the top of the cog. Let a nice flow of lube go onto the chain (don't be cheap), remember, you're going to clean and lube the chain in one step. Freewheel the chain slowly backwards, turning the chain fast throws the lube from the chain. Wipe off all of the dirt and grit that comes up to the surface of the chain. Keep in mind, you can't wipe off the chain too much, so make that chain shine! Shift the chain off the big ring, so you can wipe off the chain ring to clean up the little bit of residue left behind. For best results, allow your chain to sit a few hours or lube the night before. However if right after lubing, you have to ride, you have to ride, so go for it. Allowing the lube a chance to set up gives the lube a bit more life by allowing the protective membrane to fully set up. Remember to wipe off your chain after riding regardless and don't forget to re-lube — that really helps keep the chain clean and looking great.
