The Fox Baseframe Pro Shorts are super light and very breathable, they have a Dual Density COMP Chamois for comfort in the saddle, there's CE certified D3O hip inserts for impact protection, left thigh storage pocket for carrying small essentials and wide leg bands and a stretch waist designed to stay put.

Materials: Nylon spandex main body material for maximum mobility and increased durability. 79%Polyamide Nylon/ 21% Elastane.

Fitting style: Light compression fit which is said to improve circulation and recovery.

Length of protection: These are a knee length short providing protection at the hips.

Protection level: The Baseframe Pro offers medium levels of protection to the hips. There is no tailbone protection, or shin protection.

Removable protective inserts for washing: Yes, they are removable.

Chamois: Yep. There's a COMP foam chamois for saddle comfort.

    OK, Kinda

    I've loved D30 protection elsewhere (elbows/knees) and its ability to not restrict movement while still giving protection. These shorts are similar in a way to the Assos trail shorts in that they only have protection in one spot, the hip bone. Nothing on the back, nothing for the thigh. The D30 pad though is massive and I notice when I'm pedalling that it's there. I've worn them a dozen times but yet to use them in a crash to know if they need to be that big or if by being that big they give a little thigh protection as well. Other brands seem to get similar protection with multiple pads allowing the natural movement of your hips. Being one piece this doesn't. It didn't add much bulk though. The shorts themselves and good. The stitching is flat around the waist and knees making them svelte. The Chamois is simple but functional. The sides are venting mesh and the D30 has lots of holes to help promote airflow. There are some pockets on the bottom of the leg but I have NFI what you'd put in them? Not a patch on Assos gear but fine considering I'm not wearing it all day (and the Assos gear is silly expensive). The D30 pad is shaped like a slice of pizza being 13.5 cm wide x 17cm long x 1cm thick.

    Great shorts, just double check the sizing.

    Great shorts, just the sizing is bigger than the average.

    I bought a 36 XL and it's way to be big. All my other size 36 for perfectly.
