Bryn Atkinson's favourite tyre!

The Maxxis Highroller 2 builds on the success of the original Highroller as the go-to tyre for aggressive riding on technical loose terrain.

Featuring slotted knobs and an open and aggressive tread design for enhanced traction on loose soils and excellent mud clearing ability. The centre and shoulder knobs have been modified to improve braking performance and traction on hard surfaces and the square profile provides a solid, consistent feel during cornering.

Bryn Atkinson froths on this tyre and reckons it has the best side knobs in the business. If you've seen that guy ride you'll be aware that he knows a thing or two about how to ride a bike around a corner!

Highroller 2's are one of the most popular tyres Maxxis make because they suit so many bikes. On a Trail bike they work great as a front tyre teamed up with something like the Maxxis Ardent on the back.

They are most popular on an Enduro bike either both front and rear, or as a front tyre teamed up with either a Maxxis Aggressor, Maxxis Minion Semi Slick or Maxxis Minion DHR2 on the rear. The Highroller 2 is a great choice as a downhill tyre too - this is what it was originally designed for!

The Highroller 2 is a huge favourite amongst the MTB Direct team.

2.5" not recommended on rims narrower than 27mm.

2.6" not recommended on rims narrower than 30mm.

2.8"and 3.0" not recommended on rims narrower than 35mm.

Features:

  • Very aggressive tread pattern
  • Perfect for loose or soft conditions
  • Sizes to suit anything from a trail bike to a downhill bike
  • Excels in technical terrain
Compromises:

If you mainly ride fast, hardpack trails, the Minion DHF or DHR 2 will be better options as they roll a bit faster, and the big block knobs are more stable at speed.

Please note: Wire bead tyres are sent rolled up to minimise shipping costs. The wires in the beads shouldn't get bent during this process, however, if they arrive with a bend, just bend them back until they are straight. It won't affect the performance of the tyre at all.

There's nothing quite like the predictable cornering you get from a fresh Maxxis tyre. Looking forward to putting it on a wider rim so I can run lower pressures on my hardtail, to reduce my accidental (fun) skids.

Good quality tyres

by

Great tyres. Good combination of grippy and durable

Maxxis Highroller 2 are a great rear tyre

by

These Maxxis Highroller 2 tyres are well suited to the type of terrain I generally am riding and installed very easily as tubeless.

Do yourself a favour and get these.

Absolute beast of a tyre. I have these and the Maxxis Forekaster. I prefer the Highroller 2 hands down in all weather conditions. Doesn't slip in wet, sandy, dry or muddy, just wants to grip and then grip some more.

I had Highroller 2 on front matched with Maxxis Minion SS on the rear - awesome.

Now going Highroller 2 on front and rear just for that extra traction going up loose surfaces.

Got this bad boy set up tubeless now I am absolutely thwapping turns. ppow pwow pa. Dig these in and absolutely toast your mates in the corners. +1 would buy again. Now if only they'd stock double down 2.4/2.5 in a non WT variant.

Maxxis High Roller 2.4

by

Paired this High Roller 2.4 (front) with Ardent 2.3 (rear) on my GT sensor 27.5 as an AM/ enduro set up; really happy with this combo. The High Roller up front is minion like in its grip and seems to ride faster. Only negative is that it seems to wear pretty quick compared to a minion. No issue sealing either with a floor pump, couldn’t be happier! Bye Bye Schwalbe 😂
