The Ride Concepts Session Hellion is the flat pedal shoe made for All-Mountain riders who like to push the limits day in and day out. With an emphasis on protection and durability, it features D3O impact protective insoles and a durable synthetic upper. The hexagonal tread pattern offers excellent grip for the ultimate pedal control.

Who's It For: Designed for All-Mountain Riding but it could be used for anything from Trail to Downhill.

Pedal Interface: These are flat pedal shoes.

Closure: They feature a standard lace up closure with a fully gusseted tongue to stop debris or dirt entering the shoe.

Upper Materials: The upper is a ventilated two-panel synthetic material with an anti-peel coating. It also features additional anti abrasion toe and heel protection.

Sole Materials: The sole is made from Ride Concepts DST 6.0 High Grip rubber. This compound offers both excellent grip and durability. The EVA midsole provides extra support and shock absorption to help soak up those big hits.

Sole Type: They feature Ride Concepts hexagonal tread pattern. This allows for deeper penetration of pedal pins and maximum grip.

Weight: Approximately 421gm.

Fit Type: They call it a modern lifestyle performance fit.

Pros: These are the ultimate all rounder shoe from Ride Concepts, grippy, durable and protective, what more do you need?

Cons: They don't have the same level of protection as some of their other shoes, you might want to something a bit more protective for full DH duties.

Great Grip, All Day Comfort, Solid built

by

After 6 months use I can say they handled everything I have thrown at them!
They were a bit slower to break in and felt tight across the toes for about 5 rides. Might pay to grab a half size up if you have wide feet but the sizing was pretty close IMO.
The rubber has as much grip as my previous 5/10 Freerider pros and seems to be wearing a little better too!! I have raced enduro with these and not felt that I wished I had my old 5/10’s still!
Elastic Laces are way better and have the storage tab built into the tongue to tuck the excess away.

Underwhelming!

I was expecting more after all the hype surrounding these shoes. I’ve ridden five ten freerider pro; impact vxi, freerider contact and impact pro. Anyone of these shoes provide more grip, more support and are stiffer than the RC Hellion. Infact my 2 years old almost clapped out Impact Pro’s have more grip and are stiffer than the Hellion.

The shoes are well made and look good; however after 2 weeks on these II’ve given up on them.. The biggest issue for me is they are too flexible and although tje rubber compound feels firm and grippy, the material above this later is so soft that the rubber simply deforms around the pins and doesn’t allow the pins to bite. It’s hard to explain but hopefully you can understand what I mean.

Overall, if you are a Five ten fan looking for an alternative, this probably isn’t the shoe for you!
