Description

After 25 years in the industry Northwave has finally produced a flat soled shoe. If you know Northwave you'll also know they don't even sneeze without planning and preparing for it.  The sole of the Tribe Shoes saw two years of research and testing alone.  The Gravity outsole, known as Gecko was co-developed by Northwave and Michelin Technical Soles.

Who's It For: Flat pedal riders (unite!) that are after a very durable shoe with a grippy sole.

Pedal Interface: Flat pedals only.

Closure: Ol' fashioned, rarely fail you, easy to find when you need 'em, non-stretch laces. There is a handy elasticated keeper to stow the laces under ensuring they don't end up in your chainring.

Upper Materials: The Tribe features a suede upper with large breathable mesh inserts.  Abrasion resistant rubber prints are found on the toe, toe cap and heel for impact protection. The mesh tongue has customized padding for protection and breathability.

Sole Materials:  The Tribe features a Gravity outsole called Gecko.  While not as sticky as the Gecko+ outsole found on the Clan Shoe, this sole was selected for it's optimized performance on uneven terrain. It features a strong rubber compound for stability and good abrasion resistance. Great for flat pedal riding, or pushing your bike up, down and around obstacles.  The soles tread pattern was inspired by the mega-grippy Michelin Jet XCR tyre.

Sole Type: The tread design is a mid depth and extends onto the toe for greater traction.  It adds reinforced shoulders for stability, a mid-sole tread designed for flexibility and grip, and heel reinforcements for braking.

Weight: Not specified.

Sizing Guide: These shoes are a loose fit but are supposed to fit true to size.  If you've been a size 43 in your last few pairs of Five Tens you should be a 43 in these as well.

Last/Width type: Not specified.

Cleats: Nope. Flat pedal revolution!

Pros: Good value flat pedal shoe.  Solid construction.  Look good on or off the bike.

Cons: I hope you like black because that is the only colour option.

Good quality. Good value

Fit true to size. Very comfortable. Nice and stiff. Michelin rubber is pretty grippy. Feel very solid and I think should last a while. Good value.

Awesome shoes can't fault them

Got these shoes for downhill/enduro and after numerous rides I have come to find that these shoes are quite awesome. Nice and grippy yet the sole is not too soft, minimal to no marks on the sole form pedals after 10 rides. Very comftable with plenty of room in the toe box. Walking in these is also really comftable, though I did find there was a small wear in peroid. Overall I really cant fault them, the build quality is fantastic and I love the elastic strap to hold the laces.
