Description

The Yakima Hangover 4 bike rack is the first of its kind from Yakima. Perfect for tour groups, big families or groups of friends running shuttles, it fits up to 4 bikes safely on the back of your car, Ute or SUV. Made from heavy steel, and tested in the lab and on the roads to meet Yakima's demanding standards, you know it is going to keep your prized possessions safe. It features an easy to operate tilt mechanism with 3 adjustable mast angles to stop bikes from bumping into your vehicle and allows for easy tailgate access.

Who's this item for: Tour groups, large families or even groups of friends who need a hitch mounted option to carry up to 4 bikes easily. Designed for use with suspension forks ONLY.

How many bikes does it carry: It can safely carry up to 4 bikes.

How does it carry them: The bikes are predominantly held on the rack by their fork crown. They sit over a padded triangle mount which positions the bikes to reduce handlebar conflicts and protects the forks finish . They are then held in place with an adjustable rubber strap. The rear wheel is also held in place by a plastic cup and attached with an adjustable strap. The rear wheel cup can also be flipped to accommodate shorter bikes. There are 3 mast height positions for improved ground clearance and easier loading depending on your vehicle.

How much weight can it carry: It can carry up to 17kgs per bike and is recommended for hitches with a tongue rating of 113kg or more.

E-Bike rated: Rated up to 17kgs per bike so probably not.

How does it mount to the car: Mounts using a 50mm (2 inch) hitch mount only.

Does it tilt or swing to gain access to the vehicle: Yes, the rack has a foot activated tilt mechanism for easy loading and unloading and access to tailgates.

What size bikes can it carry: The rack can accommodate "various" sized bikes from 24" to 29" wheels.

Does it fold up for storage: No.

Does it include a lock: It does not include a lock for your bikes but it has built in metal loops so it can be used with a cable style lock to secure your bikes. Does include a hitch lock.

Does it have an integrated licence plate holder / brake / reverse lights: No integrated license plate holder or lights here. The bikes will likely not cover your cars lights, so you'd only need some cable ties to stick your auxiliary plate on.

Pros: Can carry 4 bikes with minimal effort, perfect for shuttle days. Adjustable for a range of bikes and vehicles. Has a built in bottle opener!

Cons: Rated to 17kgs only (so no E-bikes, ill guess you'll have to ride up the hills), can only be used with suspension forks. It's a pretty big rack, so storage when it's not on the car is a bit of a pain.

Tricky to load bikes on, questionable quality

Ok, but very heavy, difficult to store and not the most straightforward process of loading the bikes on and off.

    Heavy

Doesn't mark the bike or frame and reason why I purchased this rack . A lot of steel in this rack and the spare tyre location on my prado the car does wheelie down the highway but in saying that bikes loading is quick, don't need extra number plates and tail light accessories. Happy with
