Description

The RoadLink repositions road derailleurs so they are able to accept MTB cassettes. This is perfect for converting road drivetrains to 1x without sacrificing the range of a double. It can also be used to increase the range of standard doubles.

If you own a road, gravel or cyclocross bike and would like the added range of an MTB cassette, then this product is for you. Be sure to completely read the following information to ensure your components are compatible.

Note that this will not expand your derailleurs capacity, as that is a function of the derailleur mechanics. Be sure not to exceed the capacity of your derailleur.

Compatibility:

  • Designed for use with 10 or 11-speed 11-36t and 11-40t cassettes. It will also work well with the use of Wolf Tooth's extender cogs.
  • Optimised for Shimano 10/11 speed derailleurs and shifters but will work with 9 speed and SRAM and Campagnolo groups. Please note that 11-36t is the max cassette for Campagnolo groups.
  • Only works with standard hangers.
  • Double chainrings will only work with medium cage derailleurs.
  • Will not work with triples.
  • Not compatible with direct mount native frames.
  • If converting a Shimano road drivetrain to 1x, you may need a chain guide.
  • 2x chainring setups are only compatible with med cage derailleurs.

10s Cassette Compatibility:

  • 11-32: Not Required (GS medium cage rear derailleur works)
  • 11-34: Single or Double Chainring
  • 11-36: Single or Double Chainring (front rings can be no more than 14 teeth different e.g. 48-34)
  • 11-40: Single or Double Chainring (front rings can be no more than 10 teeth different e.g. 46-36)
  • 11-42: Not Supported

11-speed cassette compatibility:

  • 11-32: Not Required (GS medium cage rear derailleur works)
  • 11-36: Single or double chainrings.
  • 11-40: Single and doubles as long as the chainrings are no more than 14 teeth different.
  • 11-42 and 10-42 cassettes are not compatible.

    Wolf Tooth does have teeth!

A very fast delivery from MTB Direct. The Wolf Tooth Roadlink works great in transforming my short cage derailleur into taking an 11-34 rear cassette, the hills have no fear now.

    Working great.

    Many people may be struggling

Many people may be struggling to get their current compact road setup to accept large cluster ranges and this product makes that possible at a very reasonable cost especially when compared to replacing the rear derailleur with a long cage version. Also a much better alternative to using longer stop screw on derailleur and/or living with clatter from a lack of enough gap. My only criticism is that I did not receive any installation guide and one has to figure out the proper seating position for the RoadLink.

    Wolf Tooth with bite

I am a 61 year old cyclist with diminished lung capacity living in an area with climbs ranging between 10 to 15%. I run Campagnolo, so there is no option to buy a genuine cassette with a capacity better than 29. Lots of googling and I found an aftermarket cassette with 32 teeth, but Campagnolo does not make a derailleur capable of supporting that range. Then I found the Wolf Tooth road link. I took a punt and bought 2, 1 for mine and 1 for the wife's bike that runs Shimano. It was a doddle to fit and on the bike stand I had no problems with the gear changes, even on the 50/32 combo. On the road shifting is still crisp and precise across all combos. This is probably the best upgrade I have made to my bike.

    Road bike help

It's been perfect to extend my road bike derailleur to handle a 11-40 mtb cassette. It helped me get through my Everest Challenge!
