Description

Want to rid yourself of the debilitating press fit creak? We have the solution!

Wheels Manufacturing in collaboration with Enduro Bearings, have come up with the genius idea to use to alumium threaded cups. By allowing these cups to thread into each other, you're effectively locking the bottom bracket into your frame instead of relying on a tolerance fit.

Installation requires an oversized 48.5mm 16 notch bottom bracket tool.

Bearings are completely replaceable, so this will be the last bottom bracket assembly you'll ever need to buy!

Compatibility:

Frame - Fits into a 41mm Non-Threaded Bottom Bracket Shell. This can be called either Press Fit, BB86 or BB92

Cranks - If you have a straight 24mm spindle on your cranks choose the Shimano option. (also fits some FSA, Raceface and more)

- If you have a stepped axle from 24mm down to 22mm, choose the SRAM GXP option. (also fits Truvativ and some FSA Mega Exo)

Bearing options:

Standard Bearings - These run Enduro ABEC 3 Sealed bearings. High precision balls are within 10/1,000,000" round. Races are hardened to R-62 and polished to a mirror finish with ABEC 3 certification for tolerance and noise.

AC Bearings - Angular Contact Bearings - Made by Enduro, these are specifically designed for Hub or BB applications. A standard radial bearing will typically only have 3 or 4 bearings making contact under load. While Angular Contact bearings ensure that all balls are engaged. This spreads the load over a larger surface area and decreases friction and minimises wear. The balls in AC bearings are withing 5/1,000,00" round. This is military specification. They also have Nylon and Graphite ball retainers that are virtually frictionless and the bearings are filled with Rheolube - a special synthetic grease formulated in the USA. LLB Dual lip groove seals on the bearings ensure they remain clean and working at their best. There is also an additional dual lipped seal on both sides on the outside of the bearing (not pictured) for ultimate protection.

    Unbreakable

My partner recently replaced the crappy plastic bottom bracket I had on my bike.

His words were "this one won't fail and will last you a life time". So I'm guessing we are super happy with the bottom bracket you shipped to us 😃

Will add, delivery was super quick too.

    Thanks MTB Direct

Now this is a real smooth BB.

So the old factory fitted BB had died... shock horror... not so amazing considering the crap it had been put through. It now felt like a gravel crusher instead of a silky smooth power transfer device.

I greased up the old BB shell (after a good clean out), greased the WM- BB press sections and threads. I fitted like a glove, installed the cranks and woooo hooo.. we are back to silky smooth.

Add into this the nice and tight compression of the whole unit and this is going to add some serious speed to the power transfer through the wheel.

    Almost perfect

I bought this BB to fix the irritating creak which my bike has developed. Press - fit is really a poor design for bicycles and I hope one day the bike makers go back to threaded as the norm. This BB is very well made.... all metal and slides straight into the frame, no pressing tool required. The 2 ends thread into each other and you need the special BB tool which MountainBikesDirect sell to tighten it up. The bearings are BRILLIANT and they leave the Shimano press fit BBs for dead! My bike cranks so smoothly with this BB. If need be, you can service these bearings too. Now for the down side...... Not all bikes using the BB92 standard are 100% the same and although this BB may work like a charm in some frames, it isn't quite right in mine. I am still trying to eliminate the creak! I tried to tighten the BB up real hard, still had a creak. Tried more grease, still a creak. I have slipped a little with the tool and scratched the outside of the BB so I can't return it now, but because the bearings are so good I'm still trying other things to resolve the creaking problem. I've removed the BB and re-fitted it using Loctite 609 in yet another attempt to stop the creak. I haven't ridden it since doing this so I cannot confirm if it has worked. In a nutshell...... brilliant BB for smooth(more...)

No more creaking. Simple to install

This fixed my creaking Pressfit BB. Replacing the old BB was very simple. I'm not an expert in BB engineering so I can't really critique the pro's and con's of the standard plastic PFBB to a threaded aluminium one that I replaced it with other than to say it no longer creaks. I was surprised how flimsy the original bottom bracket was. I made a press from bolts and washers and they worked a treat. It took about 30 minutes to install. The value of this BB will come apparent when the bearings next need to be changed.
