TLD A2 MIPS Helmet
TLD A2 MIPS Helmet
Taking performance to the next level!
The original A1 took the mountain bike world by storm when it was first released in 2013. Building on their success and listening to your feedback, the new A2 is the next evolution of all-mountain helmets. With 25% larger vents, the A2 offers noticeably better ventilation and the X-Static liner will wick away moisture and prevent foul odours. The keep you safe, the A2 comes standard with MIPS and utilises dual-density ESP co-moulded with EPP to ensure you have the best possible protection in the event of a crash. True to TLD fashion, you can easily wear your favourite glasses and goggles and the visor is fully adjustable.
If you're looking for the best all-mountain helmet available, the new A2 fits the bill. Not only are they a great looking helmet, but they are super protective as well. A recent independent safety rating test conducted by Virginia Tech put the TLD A2 MIPS in 2nd place, out of over 100 helmets tested. No mean feat!
Who's this item for: This helmet is definitely geared more towards Enduro style riding it is also suitable for all-around trail riding.
Construction: Reinforced polycarbonate shell. Dual-density ESP co-moulded with EPP. 16% more EPS and EPP on the frontal lobe and splines. Extends downs the sides and back of the head for greater coverage. Rated as the the 2nd most protective helmet out of over 100 tested by Virginia Tech. Compatible with goggles and glasses.
Rotational liner: This is the MIPS version of this helmet.
MIPS - Multi-directional Impact Protection System - allows the helmet to rotate on your head slightly during heavy impacts. This aids in slowing down the rotation of the brain inside your skull, decreasing the chance of brain damage. See the link below to view the more affordable non-MIPS version.
Straps: The A2 uses a low profile semi-adjustable cam-lock strap dividers so you'll be able to tweak them to get it just right to suit your head.
Retention System: There is a dial-type micro-adjust retention system with 3-point vertical positioning but TLD doesn't seem to have any fancy names for it.
Ventilation: Ventilation is taken care of with 8 inlet and 8 exhaust vents that are designed to pull the cool air in while ejecting the warm air out. 25% larger vents compared to the A1.
Padding: The comfort is second to none, thanks in part to a super soft, removable and washable, single piece X-static liner that prevents odours and wicks away moisture.
Visor: The visor is adjustable and features break away aluminium visor screws
Weight: Approx 350 grams for the M/L version.
Pros: These helmets look great on everyone so you'll be styling it up on the trails. The luscious padding and the MIPS liner makes this a very comfortable and protective helmet.
Cons: Some kind of integrated GoPro mount would make this awesome helmet even more awesome.

Ive had several open face helmets and none have fit as well as the A2. The airflow is crazy good and even after riding for a few hours there is no need to remove it to cool your head. Could not be more happy with this purchase. Was this helpful?
