Description

The trickle-down of technology is a beautiful thing and thankfully, Shimano has started to introduce some more affordable 12-speed compatible wheelsets into their range.

The Shimano WH-MT620 12 Speed Micro Spline Rear Wheel falls into the SLX series which is the workhorse of the Shimano range. It provides similar levels of performance to the flagship models, only with a small weight penalty and without some of the fancy finishing and surface treatments that you might find at higher price-points.

These wheels have a Microspline freehub which is essential if you want to run a 12 speed Shimano cassette. The lightweight aluminium freehub uses smaller, more widely distributed splines that spread the load from the cassette more evenly than traditional HG models, which reduces the surface damage and gouging that the cogs can often cause on aluminium freehubs.

30mm internal width rims means that you can run wide tyres and the Centrelock rotor attachment allows for the use of Shimano's Freeza rotors which maximise the cooling potential of your brakes, keeping them feeling consistent under heavy, sustained braking.

    Well built wheel for an affordable price

    I can't say how durable this wheel is but it is definitely built well. The rim profile is asymmetric and the spokes were both evenly and correctly tensioned. The wheel runs perfectly true. It is fairly heavy but hopefully that also translates to decent durability. Aesthetically the wheel looks great. I have not found a wheel of equal or better quality at this price point.

    Solid wheel

    its pretty strong compared to my merida stock wheel with loads of dents,

    the hub sounds great its a double wall which i was not expecting.

    Only con is the bearings have gotten lose after 1 hard ride

    Fantastic value rear wheel replacement

    Unbelievable value. Replaced my stock wheel from my hardtail after 1 too many dirt jump cases. Easy to transfer my cassette, disc and tyre across. Tubeless tape and valve preinstalled. Only thing that I didn't expect was how quiet the hub is but getting used to that. Too early to comment on durability but spokes tight and true out of the box

    Best value Microspline wheel on the market

    Title says it all, this is basically the best value Shimano Microspline wheel available, best suited for trail use, also comes pre-setup for tubeless, all you need is the sealant and a tyre.
