Description
Designed to be super light and stowable, the Sam Hill Lite Knee pads are for days when you'll be pedalling a lot and not riding too much gnar but still want to protect yourself from those inevitable crashes. While these are a pretty minimalist pad, they still exceed the CE EN 1621-1:2012 standard for level 1 protection so you can rely on them for lightweight to moderate protection against abrasion and impacts. The pads feature a slip-on design with compression square line Ripstop spandex for a lightweight feel, and durable knee cap fabric for increased durability and protection. The top cuff extends higher up the thigh than most knee pads and uses an internal silicone strip to keep them from slipping down. The design of the pads allows for complete freedom of movement without any friction or discomfort so you can climb all day and almost forget you're wearing them.
Who's this item for: These pads are perfect for general Trail riding and Enduro racing on pedal heavy tracks without a heap of gnar. The lightweight design is very pedal friendly but can also be relied upon to protect your knees and stay in place when you do crash.
Protection Style: The protective pad is made from a dense visco-elastic foam.
Materials: Compression square line Ripstop spandex for a durable lightweight feel.
Closure or Slip-on: These are slip-on pads with a compression fit. It's critical to get the sizing right with these so you might need to try on a couple of different sizes to find the perfect fit.
Length of knee pad: The upper elastic hem sits fairly high up on your thigh, about equal to where most cycling knicks would finish. The lower elastic hem extends to midway down the shin.
Weight: 205g pair (size XL)
Protection level: These pads offer light to moderate protection and exceed the CE EN 1621-1:2012 Level 1 standards.
Removable protective inserts for washing: No.
Pros: Super comfy, and lightweight, pedal all day pads that will still provide enough protection for light to moderate impacts.
Cons: These pads rely upon a close compression fit to work properly, and there aren't any straps to make small adjustments. It's critical to get the sizing right with these so you might need to try on a couple of different sizes to find the perfect fit.
Note: Please take care to not pull the knee pads up your leg from the top of the pads as you would a pair of socks. The material is not designed for this and may cause tears. Damage to the knee pads of this nature may not be covered by the manufacturer warranty. We recommend pulling up knee pads from the top and bottom of the pad with care, in a way that avoids stretching the mesh or damaging the stitching.
