Description

This most versatile tyre in Pirelli's e-MTB lineup, the Scorpion E-MTB M tyre is designed to enable you to negotiate a wide range of different terrain types with confidence. The tyre's design draws on Pirelli's long history creating tyres for motocross with plenty of support for the knobs and excellent mud-shedding qualities in wet conditions. The Hyperwall construction provides excellent sidewall support and pinch flat resistance, especially around the bead area, and the Smartgrip+ compound provides the perfect balance between grip and longevity.

Who's this item for: This tyre is designed to hold up to the extra demands created by modern e-MTB's but it would also make an excellent choice for any hard-hitting riders that tend to pinch flat their tyres a lot.

Suggested terrain use: This is a mixed-terrain tyre so it should be a great all-rounder.

Which wheel? This tyre would work well both front and rear but Pirelli particularly recommend it for use as a front tyre, paired up with the Scorpion E-MTB R in the rear.

Casing: 60 tpi

Rim width? These tyres are pretty wide at 2.6" so they would be best paired with rims with an internal width of 30mm and wider, but 28mm wide rims will also be fine.

    Fast rolling but not overly durable

    I've owned a couple of the Pirelli Scorpion E-MTB S tyres and they've been stellar workhorses on the back of my Scott Ransom E-Ride. They're big burly tyres for a big burly bike and offer loads of climbing grip. IME these are the toughest tyres I've used to date suffering no punctures riding rocky terrain hard, where I've punctured Maxxis DD tyres in the past. Durability has also been top notch, with the big chunky knobs staying attached and lasting a long time. These Mixed Terrain tyres by comparison feel every bit as tough, and do roll really well, at the expense of outright grip. I pinched the rear tyre audibly at a race over the weekend and the tyre did not puncture, so that's a plus. Durability is poor by comparison - 3 rides in and the edges of knobs are feathering already. They're too small for E-MTB duties - the heavy bike and rider combo and limited knob size mean it's not well suited to hard charging and racing.

    Just purchased them in advance so that I have them when my current tyres wear out. As many bike items are hard to get I figured that it was prudent to do.

    Fantastic tire

    Fantastic tire I use it on a E bike often towing a bob Ibex trailer copes with all types of surface. Other tires I've used do not last anywhere near as long and are not as versatile can drop the trailer and ride some trial no problems at all.
