Description

The Essential Wheel Truing Stand is great for the budding home mechanic that is looking for an affordable option to keep those wheels true and rolling smoothly. The stand has a  smart and compact design, the stand won't take up much space yet is very precise.

The arms are made of heavy-duty steel, whilst the notches for the hubs and calipers are plastic to protect the wheels. 

Features:

  • Accommodates 20"-29" wheels with tyres installed(we do recommend removing tyres for proper servicing)
  • Compatible with Thru and quick-release axles
  • It can accommodate hubs 100mm - 148mm wide. To achieve this you must spread the cradle arms apart and insert the hub with the included axle. There is enough play in the arms to accommodate wider hubs up to 148mm
  • Sturdy and durable folding frame.
  • Includes a 200mm axle to mount wheels via the hub
  • Upper notches to fix front wheels on the truing stand, lower notches to fix rear wheels.
  • Ruler and thimble for observing the swing condition of your rim.
  • Includes basic instructions

    Works well for the price

    Not 100% accurate, but for the price, it works really well. For rough wheel turning, it does the job. I would not want to build a wheel using this tool

    Ok for QR, not so much for thru-axles

    Range of adjustment is limited and only QR wheels can be mounted firmly enough to avoid the wheel moving about on the stand (which is essential for getting the final few mm right.

    Decent basic, versatile truing stand

    My stand came with the measurement arm/plastic bit installed upside-down, but that was easy to unscrew and reattach in the correct orientation.

    I have used it for gravel/hybrid/cruiser solid-axle, QR and through-axle wheels, front and rear, it helped me true them, no major issues. It would be nice if the probes were straighter and the arms tighter, but it doesn't seem to affect the ability to true wheels.

    I have experienced excellent email support from MTB Direct when needed.
