Description
Removing your handlebars and stem is one of those jobs where we really need more than two hands. Bike mechanics and home mechanics alike have experienced the frustration of watching helplessly as your stem spacers, headset races and bearings bounce their way under the workbench while you're left with a fork in one hand and your handlebars in the other.
The Aimy Steerer is a slick little gadget that replaces one of your stem spacers with a clamp that holds tight to your steerer tube preventing your steerer tube from falling through your headset while you remove the stem and spacers.
Perhaps you're preparing your bike for transport in a bike bag, or maybe you just need that additional step to prepare yourself before removing the fork from your frame. Either way, the Aimy Steerer is on of those 'tools' that you never new you needed until you saw it.
Once set up, it's also a great reference for aligning your stem when you re-assemble your bike at the other end of your flight.
Suitable for all 1 1/8" straight and tapered steerer tubes, the Aimy Steerer is 8mm tall and weighs only 8g.
Note: When using the Aimy Steerer, it is important to remember that adjustments to your headset pre-load (tension on your top cap bolt) should be done with the Aimy Steerer loose. Only once your headset preload has been correctly set, should you tighten the Aimy Steerer.
