The Bell Super DH MIPS helmet not only looks great but suits a wide variety of riding styles. More importantly, it is absolutely brimming with safety features.

Who's this item for: Riders chasing a new trail helmet but are after something they can convert into a full face. DH rated, this helmet is perfect for riders who hit up the bike park or DH races a few times a year but don't want to own more than one helmet.

Construction: The Bell Super DH features something called 'progressive layering'. Bell defines that as: "The process of engineering a helmet liner with variable EPS foam densities to better manage the transfer of energies after some impacts". The 'fusion in-mould polycarbonate shell' is a process that was pioneered by Bell. This process bonds the helmets outer shell to the EPS foam liner, the result is a sturdier helmet. The biggest feature of the Super DH is the removable chin bar. Did we mention you don't need any tools to install or remove it? How good is that!

Rotational liner: MIPS Spherical is used in the Bell Super DH. This more advanced version of MIPS enhances the helmets ability to address rotational impacts as well as high and low-speed impacts. This more comprehensive protection also allowed Bell to better design the Super DH's ventilation.

Straps: Standard webbing straps with a Fidlock buckle.

Retention System: Bell calls the retention system 'Float Fit DH'. This system allows a comfortable, secure fit that is easy to find via an easy to turn rubber over-moulded dial.

Ventilation: This convertible helmet features intake ports on the brow of the helmet to allow cool air in, through the air channel matrix and out the rear of the helmet. This equates to full-head ventilation. In total there a whopping 19 vents in the Bell Super DH. With 6 of them being featured on the front of the helmet as intake vents- 2 brow, 4 chin bar.

Padding: The Bell Super DH uses Bells own 'sweat guide pad design' which pulls moisture away from the brow pad and eyewear area. Their X-Static padding uses a quick-drying material that has been woven with real silver fibres. These silver fibres inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi which can cause odours.

Weight: At a minuscule 850-grams (SIZE M) this is a featherweight full face.

Standout features: MIPS Spherical is the lastest and most advanced rotational impact protection system out there. There is also an adjustable visor and a snap-in camera mount to capture your shred-sesh.

Pros: Rated to ASTM F1952-00 (DOWNHILL) and ASTM F2032-06 (BMX). Great ventilation, MIPS Spherical, good retention system.

Cons: Although this helmet is DH rated the MTBA guidelines state that it is not suitable for use in DH racing events in Australia. You'll need a dedicated full-face helmet for that.
