Description

A DH and Enduro worthy stem that's also light enough for XC and Cyclocross

A company that produces parts for both the aerospace and MTB industries, Thomson are renowned for the precision and meticulously detailed machining that goes into all their parts. Before droppers brought on the demise of rigid seatposts Thomson posts were some of the most sought after on the market. They continue to make fantastic stems that are strong, lightweight and will give your mountainbike a nice touch of bling.

The steerer clamp is 'knee friendly' - and Thomson confidently say that the X4 is the best combination of strength and weight around, making them perfect not just for XC but for Enduro and Downhill riders.

The logo on the X4 stems is reversible, meaning you can flip the stem and the logo will not be upside down. You can safely run this stem with carbon bars (though be aware of the torque requirements included in the instructions).

The 32-60mm stems have a tough looking, blocky appearance that looks great on Enduro and DH bikes while the longer stems have a sleeker appearance more fitting to an XC bike.

The Thomson X4 stem is certified to: EN 14766 2006 MTB and DIN CERTCO: 2006 MTB. Built and tested to the same standard as Thomson aerospace parts.

    Can't go wrong

This CNC-machined beauty is built like a bunker door—stiff, strong, and ready for the apocalypse. The 50mm length strikes the perfect balance, giving you quick, responsive handling without compromising stability. It's light enough for agility but solid enough to survive anything short of a meteor strike.

    Pros:

    Built like a tank, perfect for post-apocalyptic adventures

    Ideal length for tight control and maneuverability

    Lightweight but solid – you won’t lose it in the rubble

    Cons:

    Doesn't come with a built-in flamethrower (maybe next model?)

    Verdict: When the world ends, this stem will still be going strong—and so will you!
