Description

The Shimano SH-GR501 is a performance flat pedal shoe with low-key, understated styling that won't look out of place when you're off the bike.
The durable synthetic upper is perforated for breathability, and reinforced toe and inner ankle zones protect you from ouchies caused by your cranks or sniper rocks. Shimano's proprietary rubber outsole provides excellent grip on your pedal pins as well as on the trail when you need to get off and push.

The GR501's make use of Shimano's Volume Tour last which provides extra room in the toe box and across the ball of the foot. This extra volume makes them equivalent to a 2E width, so they're an excellent choice for anyone with wide feet.

Who's It For: The GR-501's are an excellent choice for Trail, Enduro and Downhill riders looking for understated shoes for flat pedal action. The 2E equivalent width makes them well suited to riders with wide feet.

Pedal Interface: These are flat pedal shoes.

Closure: Standard lace-up design with an elastic loop on the tongue to secure your laces so your chainring doesn't eat them.

Upper Materials: Durable perforated synthetic upper for protection and breathability

Sole Materials: Sticky rubber outsole compound provides superb grip on pedals and dirt. The GR-501's rate a 2 out of 11 of Shimano's stiffness chart so they are very much at the comfort end of the spectrum.

Weight: 350g (Size:42)

Pros: Great value for money flat pedal shoe. Up for almost any trail. A good option for riders with wide feet

Cons: The GR-501's rate a 2 out of 11 stiffness rating means that they aren't the most efficient pedallers out there.

    Very Comfortable MTB Shoes

    I am very impressed with these Cycling Shoes on a number of levels;

    - very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. I have done a number of MTB since delivery of the shoes that have lasted up to three hours in very hot humid conditions. Feet are comfortable, they breathe well and protect my feet

-For Cyclist looking to find a 2E fit, these shoes are suitable as I’m a 2E wide size. Plenty of room in the toe box and across the instep.

    - they look good as casual wear shoes when I finish a ride at a cafe or the pub. Very easy to walk in and when you need to get off your bike on the trail, you have good secure grip to walk

    - great pedal feel and grip on the pedal. I’ve noticed a considerable improvement of better grip & pedal feel since I’ve started wearing them

    - good value for money & I like the fact that there is an elastic catch to hold your tied shoelace so it does get caught while riding

I highly recommend these flat pedal shoes

    Too Tight

When ordering, double check your size!

I'm usually a 42, ordered a 43 (to be sure they'd fit) and it was still too tight. I'm sure if they were a 44 (or 45?) they'd be suitable for my biking needs and comfortable.

Having said that, these shoes were otherwise great, and a decent price.

I'm really sorry I had to return them. MTB sorted that out quickly.

    Great set of boots

Very happy with these shoes. At first glance I was a bit unsure how Grippy they would be due to the soul not having heaps of aggressive grip but I was very surprised. Great shoes, nice and sturdy, grip well and very reasonably priced.

    Cycling Shoes Post Op Recovery

A couple of months ago I had a knee replacement and purchased these as I was finding locking into both mountain and road cleats difficult. I have found these flat pedal shoes to be much more comfortable to wear as I can position my foot on the pedal depending on my ride on the flat or hills. I was very happy with the quality of the shoe and the sizing was just right. Even though I had read that the postal service was currently very slow, the interstate delivery following my order was only a couple of days.
