Description

The Shimano Deore CS-M5100 11 Speed Cassette offers the benefits of wide-range 11-speed gearing at a very attractive price-point. The cassette features Shimano's classic Hyperglide technology and is compatible with standard HG freehubs.

Available in 11-51t and compatible with 1x setups only.

Who's this item for: This cassette is recommended for use with the Deore M5100 drivetrain with the RD-M5100 wide range derailleur. It may be compatible with other derailleurs with the addition of aftermarket cage upgrades to allow for the jump up to 51t.

Number of gears: This is an 11-speed cassette.

Materials / construction: 11 steel cogs in a loose stack with the largest 3 pinned together.

Cog-tooth span:
  • 11-51t
  • 11-13-15-18-21-24-28-33-39-45-51T
Freehub mounting style: Mounting is via the standard Shimano HG system.

Other component compatibility: May be compatible with other derailleurs with the addition of aftermarket cage upgrades. Please confirm the capacity of your rear derailleur before purchasing.

Pros: Huge 11-51t gearing range with the amazing value that Deore is known for.

Cons: The cassette is all steel, without any alloy cogs so affordability does come with a bit of a weight penalty.

    So Much Range for So Little $$

    Big range cassette for budget price. It astounds me that Deore components can be found at such low prices.

    While not as light, nor with the super-low tolerances of higher spec Shimano components, Deore delivers dependability and affordability. This was my 3rd CS-M5100 and it will likely remain my cassette of choice on this bike, because "why fix what just keeps working?".

    Going to 1x11

    Wow super quick delivery on my items.

    Going to a 1x11 setup on my hardtail after doing a few shifty 50 races. After about 40k’s, when I’m dying, my brain struggles to work out 3x10 so wanted to simplify , ha ha.

    Did my calculations and with a 34 toothed chain ring I will get basically the same gearing as I had with this 11-51 cassette. I will miss the top two highest gears but find they only rarely get used.

    Anyway will install and see how it all goes.
