Description
Typically knee-shin combo pads are a bit of a no-go for anything but gravity focussed riding as the extra coverage makes them too restrictive to allow for comfortable pedalling. ION has addressed this problem with the innovative Tectonic_Fit construction on the K-Pact Select which keeps the knee cup nice and snug while allowing the shin panel to move independently, allowing for unrestricted pedalling movement.If you want to stop mincing up your shins on your pedals but still need to be able to ride back up the hill these may be just the pads you've been looking for!
Who's this item for: Suitable for Trail, AM/Enduro, and DH riders that want maximum coverage and unrestricted movement. A particularly good choice for flat pedal riders as they will stop those hungry pedal pins from munching on your shins.
Protection Style: The pads feature a SAS-TEC main pad which is a visco-elastic soft foam that stiffens under impact to provide excellent shock absorption properties. Asymmetrical side padding provides extra protection against top tube hits and other side impacts.
Materials: The main material is ION's Super Perforator Neoprene which is pretty much as breathable as neoprene gets.
Closure or Slip-on: Open back design with upper, lower, and side hook and loop fasteners to secure the fit. Silicon stickies on the upper and lower straps help to keep them in place.
Length of knee pad: These are a full-length knee-shin pad and provide protection from above the knee down to just above the ankle.
Protection level: Heavy impact protection (En 1621-1, Level 2)
Removable protective inserts for washing?: These pads do not have removable inserts
Pros: Excellent coverage, comfortable to pedal in, heavy-duty impact protection, can be donned without having to remove your shoes.
Cons: These are long pads made out of neoprene, so they may get a bit hot on long summer rides.
Note: Please take care as to not pull the knee pads up your leg from the top of the pads as you would a pair of socks. The material is not designed for this and may cause tears. Damage to the knee pads of this nature may not be covered by the manufacturer warranty. We recommend pulling up knee pads from the top and bottom of the pad with care, in a way that avoids stretching the mesh or damaging the stitching.
