Escape Pod

I am really not sure what to say about this product.

I bought it with the intention that I could carry all or most of my tools externally on my bike´ś frame when bikepacking, rather than having them in with the general luggage. That´s why I bought the longer version.

Unfortunately, it is just too narrow to be of much use. And, yes, I do understand it is intended to fit in a standard bottle cage, so it was always going to be rather narrow, but this is made worse by the fact that it has an inwards facing lip around the rim, which makes it narrower still and tends to snag the pouch when trying to add or remove items.

For my purposes, it is all but useless, but I have given at three stars because it would work OK for someone who just wanted to carry a light tool and spares kit for minor repairs at the side of the road. There is no way that it will take a full size 29¨ tube, for example, without taking up most of the space, but it would accommodate a couple of CO2 cannisters, tubeless repair kit, and a small bottle of sealant. It´s very restrictive though.

Perhaps I just thought I was getting something different. I was truly surprised at how limited this bottle is for carrying a decent tool kit and I don know why Topeak and other manufacturers don cater better for the bikepacking market by making larger diameter tool pods that would strap into a luggage cage, for example. This bottle would actually be very useful if it was 50% larger in diameter.
