Description

Ensure your chain and drivetrain are in good shape!

The Topeak Wear Indicator easily tells you whether you need to replace your chain. It also features a hook tool to help install new links. 

Chain Wear Guide User Instructions:

1) Put " STEP 1 " inside a chain space and fully engage a roller.
2) PRESS " STEP 2 " on a roller.
- If "STEP 2" can't engage in the roller your chain is good to go.
- If "STEP 2" can engage in the roller its time for a new chain.

This tool works on the basis that  (≥ 0.8 mm) indicates a worn-out chain.

    Topeak Chain Wear Indicator and Hook Tool

    I have checked about 10 chains with this tool and find it easy to use although it does not have the ability to check all sizes/types of chains but it is great for the single -8 speed chains which in my area are the most common. Overall, it is well worth the money.

    Everyone needs this tool

    This unassuming little tool will save you a fortune!

    Don't assume your chain is worn or, or not. A 5 second check with this bad boy will let you know if you need a new chain or not.

    Change your chain before it's worn out and your getting less kms per dollar, change it to late and it will eat your cassette, costing you a fortune.

    Buy this and know for sure how your chain is travelling

    For anything under 10 Speed (Staff Review)

    Great TINY tool if you have anything under a 10 speed.

    I missed the memo that it measures at 0.8mm.. Was the only tool in stock when i ordered and didn't look at the 2nd pic (my fault), remember that 11 and 12 speed chains: Replace at 0.5, and 5 to 10 speed chains: Replace at 0.75.

    If you buy this for a 11 or 12 speed, by the time it tells you to replace your chain, you are in for a whole new DT.

    My recommendation would be just forking out the extra few dollars for a 3 prong tool (if they are in stock) as they will let you know the exact chain wear and are so much more accurate than a 2 prong.
