Description

The Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB is a puncture-resistant off-road tyre with a SmartGuard rubber insert for excellent protection against flats caused by trail debris such as thorns and broken glass. The centre tread is made up of densely spaced blocks to minimise rolling resistance while the strong outer lugs dual rubber compound provides great offroad traction.

Who's this item for: This is the perfect option for people running tubes riding fire trails, dirt roads, and the odd bit of singletrack where there are thorns, broken glass, and other pointy things trying to poke holes in their tyres and ruin their day.

Suggested terrain use: It's not a super aggressive tread but it will roll nice and fast and give you enough grip to hoon around on bike paths, unsealed roads, and the odd bit of singletrack. It won't be the best choice for steep and loose techy trails though.

Which wheel? Suitable for use on both the front and rear.

Suggested Rim width? They are on the narrow side so a 20mm to 29mm internal width rim would work well.

    Great gravel touring tyre

    I purchased the marathon plus mtb , for gravel bikepacking with my dual sus emtb . They offer great puncture protection from cat heads and glass, they roll really well and are good on gravel and light trails .

    Puncture resistance - Now we're talking.

    I've been looking to get Marathon Plus tyres for my ebike but have been unable to find tgem in the 29 inch range. I used to love them on my old cross bike and wanted the same puncture protection for my new bike.

    Sooooo happy I found these at MTB Direct and at a great price to boot.

    I'm a happy rider once again.

    Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB Tyres

    I had some reservations about these tyres as they had a stamped label on the side wall "For notched rims only". I didn't know what a notched rim was but I do now. My rims are just standard alloy rims. I have only replaced my rear tyre at the moment and it fitted with minimal fuss, however I did need to us a couple of cable ties to help keep tyre on the rim as I fed it on. It did seem that the tyre was going to be too big but it was fine. The tyre is noticeably heavier due to the puncher protection which is what I was after so it's not built for speed nor am I or my mountain bike. The tyre rolls over the bitumen road very well .
