Description

Why should burly bikes have all the fun? PNW asked that question when they released their first 27.2 dropper post. The Pine continues the tradition of bringing great, reliable dropper posts to bikes with skinnier tubes, whether it be your classic hardtail, XC bike, gravel grinder or cyclocross rig.

All-New versions of the Pine now come with the option of 90 and 110mm of travel. This accommodates more bikes and helps you win the battle against getting bucked forward by your seat on steep and techy terrain. And while extra travel is always a great perk, PNW thinks the best addition to the new models is a slick 1-piece alloy stanchion, which drops a whopping 100g of weight from the older models.

To keep descending even more distraction-free, the Pine features external routing at the midcap rather than the post head, allowing you to keep your cable routing nice and tidy.

Note: Does not include any inner cables or housing.

    Good times

Nothing but good times with this dropper post. It's a 27.2mmx110m drop external cable, using a cane creek shim to go into a 30mm seat tube. Make sure to get a remote lever if you haven't got one. The lever will need to take raw cable as the post needs the end with the lug. I used a shimano shift cable and housing, plus a BMX brake noodle to make the tight turn. To get the post to clear the seat clamp I filed a flat bit into the seat clamp. Post goes down smoothly and up at a sack friendly pace. I'm a big dude and haven't noticed any movement. The supplied seat clamp was pretty good and about as fiddly to install as most seat clamps. Apparently, it's completely serviceable at home not requiring any special tools.

Good post but rubs me up the wrong way.

Bought this to replace an old is eten. This is for the external cable option. The post is quite good, quick return, decent weight, solid feeling and very easy to install. Only problem is where the cable attached in slightly off to the side. It just rubs the inside of my leg (and not the good kind of rub on the inside of my leg). I do have massive thighs. I can move the seat so it doesn’t happen. Just not quite the ideal seat position. Not sure I’d buy it again. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy an internal pnw post tho, it seems quite good otherwise. If you have skinny thighs it might work. With my older bike (27.2 and external routing) there aren’t’t really other options.
