Lev Si Integra Dropper Post

After having a more "generic" brand dropper post fail and leave me "pogo-ing" it a few hundred metres down the trail head, it gave me ample time to think about a replacement brand on the ride out. I had seen a few KS branded droppers on other bikes and began the rabbit hole research into a model that would suit my steeds requirements. The KS Lev Si Integra Dropper Post quickly topped the list and was purchased from the legends at MTB Direct. The post showed up in no time and was introduced to the frame (with a little lube) and adjusted to fit. The instructions are simple and backed up by a tutorial on the KS website Actuation is smooth as silk with very minimal rotational play. The post sinks when triggered and returns to top dead with a hearty clunk (post adjusted to 240 PSI). It it a great bit of kit and well worth the purchase price. I cannot rate this post highly enough as the fit and finish is superb! (Fitted to a Canyon Spectral AL6. Wolftooth Lever and a Jagwire cable.

Excellent quality and spec, I can't believe it's among the cheaper posts. Fast rise with good up pressure and clunk at the top so you know the exact moment you can put your weight back on it, which I absolutely love. I was looking for an ultra fast rise so I pumped it up to max psi but it can be run slower by reducing the pressure if you like.

The lever feel (old Bontrager lever w/new KS post and cable set) is responsive/light action with the cable tensioned up on the barrel adjuster. It can be smoother with a longer throw if you run the cable a bit looser.

The overall sizes and resulting heights are best in class. I replaced a Bontrager Line Elite 150mm in my 2021 Trek Slash with this 175mm. I got a lower low and a higher high, win win. The mechanism on the bottom can be rotated to point it away from the bend in your frame for lower insertion. The insertion and stack heights are lower than any other brand I could see.

With limited 34.9 x 170 options this looked like it would be a good comprimise between value and quality. Packaging is simple as was the setup. Nice 2 bolt saddle clamp.

No creaks or rattles and it looks pretty tidy. Unfortunately the budget price show itself in 3 ways the post functions.

1. This post comes up like a rocket! If your undercarriage is in the way you will know about it very quickly!!! I reduced the air pressure to 150psi (200psi from factory)and it made it a little better but it still tops out with a very loud WACK! You are not left wondering if the seatpost is up.

2. It has a fair amount of fore-aft freeplay. Not really noticable on the bike and hopefully it won't get any worse but it's only a few hours old at the moment and has more play than any other post I've owned when the sadlle is dropped.

3. If you try to lift the bike by the saddle the post will extend itself then spring back down.
