Description

FTD II is a massively improved product over the original (which was already a great product!)

It's grown to 40% wider to give ultimate rim protection, it's also 30% taller to ensure the tyres sidewall is completely supported. This allows you to run lower pressures without the dreaded tyre squirm and achieve maximum traction.

Flat Tire Defender is made from a rubber based material - this is no pool noodle like so many of the 'me too' competition. It's a closed cell foam, so it won't absorb sealant. FTD is made in the USA.

Weight per wheel: 200-220g for 27.5, 230-250g for 29

What's in the box: 1 or 2 Inserts (depending if you select the single or pair option) Tubeless Valve Stem, Super Glue for adhering the two ends together.

Rim Size: 28-40mm internal width

Recommended Tyre Width: 2.3-2.8 Inch

    Good protection but very careful installation required

    Great rim protection, perhaps one step down from Cush Core, but is poorly designed. It comes as a single length of foam (which has to be trimmed for wheels other than 29") then the two ends are joined with their included super glue to form a loop . The glueing process is difficult and critical. Despite my best effort, the join failed at the glue point about 3 months later. This resulted in the insert slumping within the tyre and a wheel that rotated like a hamster wheel with the hamster clinging to the cage. Once soaked in Stans the join could not be re-glued so I used two zip ties to form the loop. Later these pulled through the foam with the same result. I took more care with a (later) second insert and so far it is holding up but I am not confident. I have now switched to Tannus Armour which is lighter and is a more thought out design.

    Awesome

    My son put these on his enduro bike for Derby and no issues at all. He swears by them. Easy to instal as well.

    Cheaper than Cush Core

    I thought I'd try something other than Cush Core.

    The FTD is definitely easier to install than Cush Core. I doubt it works as well, but it's almost half the price, so....

    FTD tire inserts

    This product is so good if not better that cushcore!!! Would be better and less of a hassle if was pre glued

    GOD SENT

    BEST INSERTS EAVER!!!! i ran these at 12psi in 29inch tires and never had a probem eaven when racing
