Description

The new Crank Brothers enduro specific pedal, from the makers of the popular Mallet DH.

The Crank Brothers Mallet E is the top model for aggressive enduro racing and all-day-in-the-saddle epics. The pedal body is extruded from 6061 aircraft grade T6 alloy, then shot peened and hard anodised. The clipless "wings" on the Mallet E are made from durable 300 series stainless steel.

Features:

Adjustable "Traction Pad" system. Tune the pedal height with removable traction pads(1 and 2mm supplied) and pins . This allows riders to adjust the friction between the shoe/pedal interface to suit your preferences and shoes.
Chamfered sides to deflect sneaky stumps hiding in the bushes - reducing those unexpected over-the-bars excursions.
Swappable cleats give 15° or 20° release angle.
419 g per pair
5-year warranty.

Differences from the Mallet DH:

5mm narrower Q-factor (distance from axle shoulder to centre of cleat). Improves efficiency and assists in negotiating tight single track sections.
12% smaller pedal surface area - better suited for trail/enduro shoes
50 g lighter - no shuttles in (most) enduro races right?
2 fewer pins on rear section of the pedal make re-entry easier

Improvements over previous models:

Enduro cartridge bearings (outer) for high thrust loads - Improved longevity between service intervals
Igus LL glide bearing (inner) - Exclusive technical material for longer life between services
Added double lip seal and additional external seal. More seals = longer life

What's in the box:

One set of Mallet E pedals
Two premium brass cleats with shims
Four cleat bolts
1mm and 2mm traction pads

Sizing/Fitment:

9/16 pedal axle fits all three-piece cranks.

    Cranking

MTB Direct supplied a hassle-free purchase experience and super quick delivery. I replaced my aging Shimano clipless pedals with the CB Mallets and they were a great choice. The click in and click out experience is a little different from the Shimano system but once you get your eye in they are fantastic. The highlight for me is the ease of the click out, perfect if your MTB ego is cutting cheques your MTB ability is unable to cash!

    Crank Brothers Mallet E

Once set up properly with my shoes they have been faultless, easy to clip in and out off even in Melbourne's wet weather

    Really solid platform, the pedals

Really solid platform, the pedals feels light but strong on the bike. The 6? float is nice! Very happy with these and would recommend.

    They're good and I like

They're good and I like the colour. Why are pedals so expensive these days? On sale, but should be no more than 120 bucks!
