Dollars for Dirt - October 2019

Dollars For Dirt

Each month, we select three groups who are doing excellent things in MTB in Australia. We've recently DOUBLED the amount of funds we put forward - so now each month, we put $1,200 on the table, and we ask our customers to vote to decide who gets the funds.

Each group gets at least $300, but the group with the highest votes at the end of the month scores $600!

Check out the groups for October 2019:

Mount Gambier MTB Club (SA)

https://www.facebook.com/groups/498934363579501/

We are building all skill level trails in the Mount Gambier area to allow all riders to have access to the trails. The money would help us buy more equipment to help with trail building.

Majura Pines Trail Alliance (ACT)

http://majurapines.org

The Majura Pines Trail Alliance are the volunteer group who build and maintain the mountain bike trails in the Majura Pines. The trails are some the oldest and most famous in Canberra. There are currently over 20km of mapped and signposted trails for all abilities as well as a pump track and dirt jumps.

Since 2015 the Majura Pines Trail Alliance have contributed over 2500 hours of volunteer work and we continue to construct more new trails, in addition to maintaining those in existence.

There are trails at Majura for all abilities and tastes, from easy greens to fast flow trails, from old skool technical XC to gnarly, rock-strewn downhill and enduro trails. We only build by hand and pride ourselves in preserving the true Majura style, whilst adding a little dash of new.

Through the hard work of our volunteers our network has expanded considerable since it was re-opened in 2015. We would spend the money on updating the sign posting within the forest to make it more accessible to new riders and visitors to the region.

Any money left over would be spent on new hand tools and materials for building more great trail.

Elliston Reserve Bike Park (SA)

https://www.facebook.com/Elliston-Reserve-Bike-Park-2048266425249574/

This group has been working with the local council to create a bike jump track and pump track in a previously run-down bike park. The council have placed the dirt and we now have to dig.

Money for tools and supplies to finish these off would be amazing. $300 would get us tools to share with the local bike community to dig the jumps.
