Dollars for Dirt - August 2019

Dollars For Dirt

Each month, we select three groups who are doing excellent things in MTB in Australia. We've recently DOUBLED the amount of funds we put forward - so now each month, we put $1,200 on the table, and we ask our customers to vote to decide who gets the funds.

Each group gets at least $300, but the group with the highest votes at the end of the month scores $600!

Noosa Trailblazers MTB Club (QLD)

https://www.facebook.com/noosatrailblazers/

Noosa Trailblazers is a mountain bike club with 100 members based in Noosa Heads, QLD. The club, guided by president Damian McGarry, secured two grants from state and local government to update and cut new trails in Tewantin Forest (Wooroi Forest Reserve). Dirt Art and Trailworx completed the work and since then ridership has increased nearly six fold with more families and more out of area riders than ever before. Wooroi is now recognised as one of the leading mountain bike venues in south-east Queensland and has been featured in Australian Mountain Bike magazine.

Forrest MTB & Cycling Club (VIC)

https://www.facebook.com/Forrest-Mountain-Bike-Cycling-Club-158910360820722/

We are a small club based in Forrest Victoria. Every Thursday night we meet at the local brewery in Forrest & ride the many singletrack trails around the area followed by a meal & drink at the brewery. We also organise the occasional fun ride on a weekend where we might ride down to the coast on fire trails and gravel roads through the beautiful Otway ranges.

We help to maintain the 60km plus of single trails with DELWP so this money would go to tools or material to help with that.

Fat Tyre Flyers (VIC)

https://www.ftfdh.com.au/

Fat Tyre Flyers are Victoria’s premiere downhill mountain bike club. We’ve been around for more than 30 years and we actively run build days, ride days and race events for the National Downhill Series and the Victorian Downhill Series. We’re run entirely by volunteers and we want to make downhill mountain biking in Victoria the best it can be.
