True to its roots, the GX trim offers tremendous value and performance.

Why spend hundreds when you can get the same Eagle performance at a fraction of the cost.  The Eagle GX derailleur is fully cross-compatible with the entire Eagle range so you can mix and match components to suit your budget.

The GX Eagle derailleur features all of the tech that's packed into SRAM's brilliant X-HORIZON derailleur range, and the latest models (Lunar Grey) benefit from the recent tweaks to the cage architecture to improve chain retention and increase the range to work with the new 10-52t cassettes.

Who's this item for: GX Eagle is the workhorse of the SRAM range and offers crisp and reliable shifting performance with wallet-friendly pricing. It's a great option for Trail/All Mountain riding and Enduro racing.

Number of gears: This is a SRAM Eagle 12-speed derailleur.

Weight: 290g.

Chain and cassette compatibility: Best paired with SRAM Eagle 12 speed chains and cassettes.

Max cassette range

  • The new models with the Lunar Grey colour are compatible with up to a 10-52t cassette.
  • The black ones have a max of 10-50t.

Clutch style: Type 3 Roller Bearing Clutch maintains precise shifting while greatly reducing derailleur bounce and chain slap.

Cage length: All Eagle derailleurs use a long cage.

Jockey wheel tooth count (top / bottom): 12 tooth top, 14 tooth bottom.

Highlights of the Type 3 Eagle derailleurs are:

  • A new stronger Type 3 roller bearing clutch
  • Aluminium cage, steel springs.
  • Completely revised B-Bolt attachment  that is significantly more durable
  • 14t X-SYNC Lower Jockey Wheels to accommodate the huge 520% cassette range and run a bit smoother
  • Repositioned cage lock button - it's now tucked away to keep it out of the trail debris
  • Eagle Pulley Technology gives crisper shifts, quieter operation and increased efficiency.

Please note:  Adjusting your B-tension on Eagle derailleurs can be tricky.  We recommend using Sram's chain gap tool

Works great when new - we'll see if it's still alive in 3 months

This was a replacement part for me, so not a 'new' experience. As with all SRAM drivetrain components (GX or above) it world great out of the box but is a little fragile. If I was getting a drivetrain from scratch I'd be looking at Shimano

As crisp as an apple 🍎 and as light as an eagle 🦅

The shifting on this is so crisp, it reminds me of when you get an apple that’s picked at just the right time, not too early not too late. And a plus is it’s only 15g “heavier” than the model up.

Having used this for a few months now I have zero complaints. Set up was as easy putting on a helmet, probably easier, and it barely needed any tuning upon installation

    Perfect shifting

Nothing like a brand new derailleur to get things shifting again. These 12 speeds can get fussy so make sure that the hanger is dead straight and you must use that chain gap tool that comes in the box to make it shift sweetly.

    GX Worth the Change

    by

    What a great shift!
All dad jokes aside, my bike originally had the SX drive train fitted and the gears were not so pleasant. I was increasingly needing to track side adjustments to continue riding, so it was time for an upgrade.
Knowing that SRAM eagle work together across the range I decided to swap out the derailler and and trigger with the GX rather than swapping the whole drive train. It was a cheaper option and the components are working well with each other. The gears are not crunching anymore and change with a clear and deliberate click of the changer.
It was a simple and cost effective upgrade that I would recommend to anyone who wants to improve their bike. Glad I made the shift and I haven't looked back!

    Impeccable

The GX derailleur is a work of art, smooth shifting and looks the goods, MTB Direct service and delivery time…Impeccable!!

    Great Upgrade

Fast delivery from MTB Direct, always a pleasure to deal with, now the GX Derailleur is a great upgrade from the NX, easy fit and tune with the B guide tool.
