The Flank Leg Guards are part of RaceFace's all-mountain protection range and they offer extended coverage of the knee and shin and a handy open-backed design to make them easy to remove them for the climbs before strapping them back on at the top, all without removing your shoes. The D30 main pad will stay soft and compliant while pedalling and will stiffen up under impact when you need it to. An EVA foam extension will help protect your knees against pedal bite, and extra foam padding on the sides will stop you from banging your knees on your frame.

Who's this item for: These pads are for gravity focussed riding where you'll either be getting a lift to the top, or remove the pads and pedal up before strapping them on again.

Protection Style: These leg guards use a combination of a D30 main protective pad, an EVA foam extension on the upper shin, and foam padded sides for extra protection.

Materials: 600D Polyester with polyurethane coating knee cover.

Closure or Slip-on: These are an open-back strap on style pad with hook and loop upper and lower straps. You can easily put these on and take them off without having to remove your shoes.

Length of knee pad: The pads are pretty long and will cover from above your knee down to your mid-shins.

Protection level: Moderate to heavy-duty protection.

Removable protective inserts for washing: No, the inserts are not removable.

Pros: Excellent protection for the knees and upper shin. Open-backed design means that you won't have to keep removing your shoes to put them on or take them off.

Cons: Knee/shin combo pads will tend to restrict your movement a bit when pedalling. The open-back design should address this though and you won't have to climb in them.

Note: Please take care to not pull the knee pads up your leg from the top of the pads as you would a pair of socks. The material is not designed for this and may cause tears. Damage to the knee pads of this nature may not be covered by the manufacturer warranty. We recommend pulling up knee pads from the top and bottom of the pad with care, in a way that avoids stretching the mesh or damaging the stitching.
