Designed as a rear-specific tyre for use on a wide variety of trails, the Pirelli Scorpion Trail R provides the ultimate in grip and stable tyre structure.

With a rear-specific tread pattern engineered for maximum traction under accelerating and braking, this is the perfect rear tyre to pair with the Scorpion Trail M upfront.

The tyre's design draws on Pirelli's long history creating tyres for motocross and features a single compound rubber with excellent tear resistance and chemical grip qualities for consistent performance in wet and dry conditions, even as the tread starts to wear.

Who's this item for: This rear-specific tyre is for trail riders looking for a reliable rear tyre that's tough enough to go the distance but not so heavy that'll it'll hold you back.

Suggested terrain use: This is a mixed-terrain tyre so it should be a great all-rounder.

Which wheel? The Scorpion Trail R is the perfect rear tyre when paired with a Scorpion Trail M up front.

Casing: 60 TPI ProWALL casing is reinforced for extra puncture protection and improved handling at lower pressures. An additional layer of nylon fabric is applied over the casing sidewalls for extra protection and improved cornering stability.

Compound: SmartGRIP is an advanced compound developed using motorsport experience. The single compound provides constant high grip performance both in wet and dry conditions, even when the tread starts to wear.

Rim width? The 2.4" width of these tyres would pair best with rims with internal widths from 23mm to 30mm

Not great for its intended purpose

This is a very contradictory tyre. I have this in 2.4", it has low knobs (less than 3mm) and feels like a fairly hard compound so looks like it should be fast but it isn't. Feels slow & draggy and through sections where I pump to keep speed up I was coming in much slower than on a Reckon or a even a Dissector. Cornering felt OK and it'll get drifty with a bit of rear brake but I couldn't work out what this tyre is best suited for.

Changed it to the 2.4" Pirelli Mixed Terrain and it's so much better as a rear tyre - better braking, climbing & cornering grip and it rolls faster.

Good all round performance

Great tyre, when in combination with the scorpion mixed trail front even better. Good all rounder that lets you forget about tyres and grip and just enjoy the trail

perfect as a rear trail tyre.

Great out back on the medium squish dual suspension, bites nice, rolls well and with a strong but not to heavy casing it allows lower pressures to be run
