Description

The Minion DHR 2 is a complete redesign, with acceleration, cornering and braking all improved.

The shoulder knobs were borrowed from the legendary Minion DHF and then beefed up to handle duty as a rear tyre. They are also packed a bit closer together than on the Minion DHF. This helps to disperse the load whilst braking over more knobs, and improve longevity. The centre tread has been heavily ramped and siped to roll fast and track straight under braking. The big, paddle-shaped centre knobs also last remarkably well under hard braking.

Whilst the Minion DHR2 was designed as a rear specific tyre, it works very well on the front too, particularly on harder terrain.

For a great trail tyre combo, run a Minion DHR 2 on the front, with an Ardent or a 2.35" version of the Ikon on the back.

For a more heavy duty enduro set up, your can run Minion DHR 2's front and rear. If you want to just run the DHR 2 on the front then you can team it up with either an Aggressor, Dissector or Minion Semi Slick on the back. If you want to run the DHR 2 on the back, then look to pair it up with either a Maxxis Highroller 2 or a Minion DHF up front.

Please note:

  • Skinwall/Dark Tan Wall tyres: Maxxis has made a running change to replace all Skinwall tyres with the Dark Tan sidewalls. During the transition phase, there is a chance that stock from our suppliers may contain a mixture of both sidewall types so you may receive a shade that is different from what you expect. If this does happen please get in touch and we'll do our best to get you sorted with the option you'd prefer ASAP!
  • 'WT' stands for Wide Trail. These tyres were designed around use with 35mm internal rims. However, riders utilising narrower rims (ourselves included) have still found them to perform exceptionally. If your rims are narrower than 24mm internal, you may find them to roll and squirm under hard cornering. Minion DHR 2.8" and 3.0" tyres don't have the WT designation as they are designed to run on 35mm internal rims at a minimum.
  • Wire bead tyres are sent rolled up to minimise shipping costs. The wires in the beads shouldn't get bent during this process, however, if they arrive with a bend, just bend them back til they are straight. It won't affect the performance of the tyre at all.

    Excellent tyres

These are great tyres. Had to use them in a bind and put them on my front. They work just as well as the DHF and in fact I am running the DHF on the back! Go figure, but it all works well. Only wish they made these great tyres lighter but just as strong.

My Experience with the Maxxis Minion DHR 2.

Once upon a time, I bought a clapped out second hand bike with a bold, slick, worn down DHR II, this was around the time I had just started mountain biking, and I had many people talking about the DHR II so, after the no grip got to me, I bought another one from MTB Direct, it came insanely quick and proves to make me more Shredda on the trails, next time I buy a front tyre, it’ll definitely be from the greatest of all time, MTB Direct.

    good tyre

I have run the dhr ll for a couple years now and I really like it. I think it has good breaking traction and the side cornering lugs give good support wile cornering. it has never slipped when I didn't want it to with the C3 maxx terra compound, I would defiantly would recomend going ip to the C3 maxx terra compound if you have the basic dual compound dhr. The basic dual compound I found lost traction more than I wanted and going up to the C3 maxx terra compound made a difference between having grip in corners and not having grip especially in wet flat corners. would recommend.

If you can’t find a review on these you’re not looking hard enough

Maybe the most popular MTB tyre? They are that for a reason. Double down walls and max terra tread for durability. Not much more to say but they do their job well
