Faster! Grippier! is what the Maxxis factory team riders asked for, and that is what they got with the Maxxis Ardent Race.

Designed to fit in between the Maxxis Ikon and the regular Maxxis Ardent it's a great choice front and rear for an XC race or makes a great rear tyre on a trail bike. The ramped centre knobs are closely packed and of a medium height to provide great rolling speed and plenty of grip.

Keeping the same stepped side knob design as the regular Ardent offers lots of gripping edges in loose or soft terrain whilst turning.

Skinwall/Dark Tan Wall tyres: Maxxis has made a running change to replace all Skinwall tyres with the Dark Tan sidewalls. During the transition phase, there is a chance that stock from our suppliers may contain a mixture of both sidewall types so you may receive a shade that is different from what you expect. If this does happen please get in touch and we'll do our best to get you sorted with the option you'd prefer ASAP!

Features:

  • Suitable for front or rear use for cross country or endurance riding
  • A great rear tyre on a trail bike
  • Lightweight for a high volume casing
  • Best on technical XC style tracks that are hardpack, loose over hard or medium surfaces.
  • Comes in a 3C Maxx Speed tread compound for a very grippy, yet fast-rolling speed.
  • 120 TPI casing allows the tyre to conform to the terrain for excellent grip and comfort.

Diehard hardtailer

by

I’ve fitted the Ardent race to rear of my pimped out 26inch hard tail.
Definitely softer ride, fast with decent grip.
My Rims r narrow 19mm internal width running 31psi and I weigh a hefty 95kg.
Tyre seems to cope fine ,done couple of hundred km over mix of loose dirt ,tree roots and some rock.No punctures. Using milkit sealant.
Highly recommend for XC hard tails

Go to front XC tyre

My go-to front XC tyre. Turn in grip is fantastic across most surfaces, mid corner can tend to slip but predictable. Running anywhere from 17-20psi for a 55kg rider, on a dual suspension 100mm travel bike. Works well for all terrain except for mud and wet conditions. Haven’t tried as a rear tyre, but the Ardent Race front and Aspen rear is a fast and grippy combination.

Super quiet but still grippy!

by

Beautiful comfortable tyre, quiet on hard or gravel surfaces but still give you great grip in the rough.

Great for hard packed, too fragile for rougher terrain

by

I'm using 29" 2.2 versions of these tyres on an Orba hardtail XC race bike and I love the grip/speed of these tyres provide - having spent the summer riding Mt Stromlo Bike Park's awesome trails these tyres were faultless. However, upon switching to the much rougher, rockier, slicker Sydney Northern Beaches trails (Garigal) I've had two rear tyres ripped down the center on rocks and roots. Going forward I need to find something else for the rougher terrain but will likely use these again for dryer, hard packed tracks.

Bang for buck

Best tire on the market imo. Super light super fast rolling and the 2.6 is mad grip. Cant get better for the price

Maxxis Ardent 2.3

by

Paired this Ardent 2.3 (rear) with a High Roller 2.4 (front) on my GT sensor 27.5 as an AM/ enduro set up; really happy with this combo. The Ardent gives great rear traction and speed coupled with the holding power of the High Roller up front. No issue sealing either with a floor pump, couldn’t be happier! Bye Bye Schwalbe 😂
