The Lezyne Macro Drive 1300 XXL Lumen Front LED Light is an impressive all in one light that boasts up to 1300 lumens of power in a small form factor. You get a wide and generous beam spread from 3 LED'S up front that are housed in a machined aluminum case which also has cooling fins that optimize performance.

    Bright but room for improvement.

    I was looking for a helmet light and thought the cordless option would be great. This was almost perfect. This is a very good light. It is very bright and has a really solid build feel. The casing is very strong and the rubber strap is also very heavy duty. Six different modes will help give a long run time, there is also a blinking and a weird wavering fade function for daytime visibility to others. The recharge port has a solid rubber cover and the on off button is solid and simple as well.

    So where could it be improved?

    Overall as a helmet light, with all that chunky solid quality, it is just to heavy. I actually didnt even try it as a helmet light as it was so much heavier than my usual light only and battery in Camelback set up. I did though use it on my handlebars and it worked really well. One less cable to worry about. The very solid rubber strap is also a bit awkward to secure and almost feels like it could come loose or unattached. The strap has to kink up under the light to secure over a hook. Just doesnt quite feel secure. In saying that i rode for a good couple of hours and hit some reasonably rough trail and it did not fall off.

    I have not had it in rain but i suspect it will be fine as everything seems very well built.
