Dollars For Dirt - December 2017

Dollars For Dirt

Each month, we select three groups who are doing excellent things in MTB in Australia. We put $600 on the table, and we ask our customers to vote to decide who gets the funds. Each group gets at least $150, but the group with the highest votes at the end of the month scores $300!

Check out the groups for December 2017:

Dirty Divas (WA)

"I have started a group to motivate and encourage women to mountain bike. No matter their ability I organise rides on different trails sometimes with experts from those areas to show us their local trails and teach us skills as well. After woods we usually have lunch and support the local business or bike shop. For example I have taken groups of ladies to Middle Earth Gale Road near Margaret River our guide is Rid Larkin. Also I organise a tent at Wharncliffe Mill and we do the Pines in Margs also. I want to be able to organise a two day over night skills training session in Dwelliingup for all abilities. It wld go towards getting two instructors for the two day skills session in Dwellingup I am trying to organise."

Dromana College Cycling Team (VIC)

"Dromana College has a Cycling Subject as part of its classes. For half a day every Wednesday students get to ride bikes and learn valuable life skills like goal setting, bike maintenance, nutrition and fitness. The school has a pump track and a 3 1/2 km XC race track where a round of the Victorian Schools Cycling Champs are held every year. The students are about to start the planning process in designing and building a pump track in the nearby area working with the Pt Leo foreshore ranger. This will be a great community project where the students learn trail building skills whilst giving back to their local community. The $300 donation would be used to help provide valuable building tools such as fire rakes."
