Dollars for Dirt - February 2017

Dollars For Dirt
Each month, we select three groups who are doing excellent things in MTB in Australia. We put $600 on the table, and we ask our customers to vote to decide who gets the funds. Each group gets at least $150, but the group with the highest votes at the end of the month scores $300!

Cradle Coast Mountain Bike Club (TAS)
https://www.facebook.com/Cradle-Coast-Mountain-Bike-Club-171694296195611

The Cradle Coast Mountain Bike Club is located on the Northwest coast of Tasmania. We have a small passionate group of mountain bikers that run races and events, maintain local trails, lobby for new trails, and have solely built one of the best compact mountain bike parks in the country, the Penguin MTB Park. We'd love to put $300 towards signage and trail markers of the current trails around the Penguin MTB Park to make it easier for visitors to link all the trails together.

Southern Downs Mountain Biking Club (QLD)
https://www.facebook.com/groups/520911538119350/

We are a relative new club and have only been started for about 2 months. We have a great enthusiastic bunch of members that are currently talking with our council and national parks in regards to building some amazing trails in our region. The southern downs is on the border rangers of Qld and have some beautiful areas we can ride. We are very much hoping to make our region a mountain bike hot spot with beautiful wine country and great brewery's to take advantage of it all. The $300 would be a great help with all the associated cost of first starting the club up. We would love to do some more advertising and promotions to bring riders into our area. As well as this the money would help with the buying of trail rakes and hoes to allow us to start building our amazing new trails.

Lysterfield District Trail Riders (VIC)
http://www.lysterfieldmtb.com

Lysterfield District Trail Riders (LDTR) manage all the MTB trails in Lysterfield Park, Victoria. We are the sole volunteer trail building group for Lysterfield Park who also run races, social rides and advocate for the improvement of mountain biking trails at Lysterfield Park. There are 13 volunteer committee members who work extremely hard every day to make sure the club runs smoothly. We do monthly trail builds, social rides, Friday night races, family/beginner social rdie days, working with Parks Victoria, MTBA and other stakeholders, posting on social media to keep everyone interest and informed on MTB! Everyone who volunteers their time with us or who helps us financially is passionate about the sport and improving the MTB trails in Lysterfield Park in one way or another. All of the money goes back into the trails and improving the opportunities and riding experience that can be had at Lysterfield. The committee work incredibly hard behind the scenes communicating with each other to try and get projects going. Many many many thousands of hours are given up by volunteers to help the club and MTB community grow at Lysterfield Park.
