Great performance at a bargain price

by -

Just wanted a set of basic MTB pedals for a CX bike that I have on extended loan. Lack of easily available supply of the ever reliable Shimano M520's at a good price led me to these at MTB Direct.

Damn they are good, and at $38 bucks - what a steal !!!

Simple, easy to use, robust and they just work.

Sometimes, you need to look past the standard and try something different.

Crank Brothers Candy 1 Pedals

Pedals and cleats were easy to set up and additional shims and longer bolts are included for cleat adjustment if needed which I thought was a nice touch. I mainly got these to try out Crank Brothers mechanism at a cheap price and have since sold the pedals on. Based on these I would definitely buy Crank Brothers pedals again. Quality seemed decent and they are very light, engaging and disengaging was very easy. I would have continued using these pedals but platform size did not inspire confidence whilst doing even the smallest jumps and drops then again they aren't really meant for that. For commuting or XC they would be perfect.

Crank Bros are the go

Crank Bros are the go to pedal for me over the years. Prefer them over shimano but thats just me . Colours are great and they take a beating well

Candys for win!

Candys are a great compromise between lightweight and stable platform clipin's. Great off road pedals! Especially for CX or gravel use.
