Description
The first brand new Banshee frame platform in a while, the Titan, charges onto the scene with vicious intent. If warp speed down the nastiest chunk you can imagine is your goal, then you've found a loyal steed in the Titan.
Who's it for: Riders wanting a fast and efficient, yet composed and compliant bike.
Frame material: Banshee V3 frames use 7005 aluminium, which is 4.5% stiffer than standard 6061! Jokes aside, 7005 has a 12.9% higher tensile strength, and a whopping 55% higher fatigue strength than the most common bike alloy, 6061.
Intended use: Not only will the Titan carry you down scary steeps and rough rocks, but its handling can be tamed enough for even the more mellow trails, if you know what you're doing. Enduro racing is definitely where it's heart lies.
Wheel size: Made with 29" wheels in mind. However, both 27.5+ wheels will work, as will putting only a 27.5 in the rear and going mullet.
Fork: Between 160mm and 180mm, 29" forks will work great here. Axle to crown between 572mm and 592mm.
This frame is designed with reduced, 42-44mm offset in mind, however will work ok with a 51mm offset too.
Shock: This frame includes the Fox Float X2. It is a 205x65mm trunnion mount. The lower mount size is 30x8mm.
It will work well with any high volume air shock, or a coil shock
Rear wheel travel: 155mm
Linkage design: The V3 Banshee frames use the refined, KS2 suspension design. This is a co-rotating, short dual-link platform with a focus on control and grip. The start of the stroke is incredibly supple, mostly linear until the sag point. This is where it begins a gradual ramp for mid-stroke support when charging through chundery stuff. Then it ramps sharper towards the 85% mark for that final bit of bottom out support.
Headset size: Frames include a headset and bearings. They are a ZS44 top, ZS56 bottom.
BB style: Keeping it simple, they use a standard 73mm threaded bottom bracket shell.
Chain guide compatibility: New for the V3 models, they feature a splined, and replaceable ISCG05 plate.
Seat tube inner and outer diameter: 31.6mm inner diameter, 34.9/35mm external.
Rear axle spacing and style: These use the tried and true Banshee modular drop out system. So it's up to you if you want boost or 142mm.
Unique features: The standout feature of the V3 frames, is the 3D forged shock cage. This keeps the shock as far down as possible and keeps the centre of mass super low. This allows for greater high speed stability, increased ease of initiating corners, and frees up room in the front triangle for a water bottle.
Internally ribbed stays on the rear triangle also drastically increase strength and stiffness.
Water bottle: You asked, and Banshee delivered. Full size water bottle inside the front triangle.
Cable routing: Dropper post, rear brake and rear derailleur cables are routed internally through the down tube.
Frame protection: Ribbed chainstay slap protector.
Rear brake mount: Part of the modular dropout system. IS160. Frames are tough enough to take up to a 203mm rotor.
Maximum chainring size: Not listed, assume 36t as the max and 28t as the minimum.
Weight: Medium anodised black frame including dropouts, axle and shock comes in at 3.95kg.
What's in the box: Frame, shock installed. Seat clamp. Headset cups, bearings and crown race. No hanger, dropouts or axle.
Warranty: Registered frames are warranted to the original owner for up to 2 years to be free of manufacturing and workmanship defects.
Pros: Comes with one of the best shocks around, fantastic geometry, amazing suspension performance.
Cons: Won't get any KOMs on Strava going up the hills.
NOTE: Dropouts, axle, and hanger not included.
